On May 6, 2019, at 1:40pm, a Manassas Park Police Officer was monitoring the intersection of Digital Drive and West Carondelet Drive when the driver of a 2007 Ford Van failed to stop for the stop sign. The officer activated his emergency equipment in an attempt to stop the van; however, the driver of the van ignored the officer’s equipment and continued east on West Carondelet Drive. The driver of the van turned onto Black Hawk Court and pulled into the driveway of a townhouse. The driver then fled into an open garage door and closed it. It was later determined that the suspect was actually a resident of the townhouse.
Officers remained in the area and a short time later, the same suspect attempted to flee out of the rear of the townhouse and was taken into custody without incident. The driver was identified as Mr. Justin Jay Garcia. Mr. Garcia was charged with § 46.2-817 – Felony Eluding, § 46.2-301 – Driving while license revoked, and § 46.2-821 – Fail to stop at a stop sign.
Mr. Garcia was held on a $2,000.00 secured bond and his initial court date is set for June 6, 2019, at 11:00am.
