Today, Manassas Park Police, along with the family and friends of Retired Chief John. C. Evans, celebrated his 33 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Manassas Park with a retirement ceremony.
Chief Evans began his 33 year career here in the City of Manassas Park on August 20, 1986. Chief Evans rose through the ranks and was appointed Chief of Police on September 3, 2002. Chief Evans was the longest sitting Chief in the City of Manassas Park serving over 17 years. During his tenure as Chief, Chief Evans was instrumental in implementing the departments first K-9 unit, Special Response Team, and creating partnerships with Federal and Local Task Force. In 2007, Chief Evans assisted in the planning and construction of the new police station and made sure it was outfitted with state of the art equipment.
Kathy, Chris and Kelly, Thank You for sharing your husband and father with all of the men and women of the Manassas Park Police Department. It was our honor and privilege to work with such a great man and friend.
Chief Evans, you will be greatly missed by everyone and now that you have less tension, be sure to enjoy your pension.
